Day 31 Namaste

Today was the first day of the spring semester.  I'm taking my last science class before I can apply for the nursing program (microbiology) and a double dose of pilates and yoga.  This is going to be the start of my path to leading a healthier life.  Body and Mind.
Make a path for people to follow and invite people to try it out.
My friend Missy and I are taking the class together and another grrl friend Anna wants to start practicing yoga  too. :)
This isn't me but in sixteen weeks time I aspire to be.

Day 30 More than meets the eye

Well, my last day of vacation was uneventful to say the least.  Lazed about and ate junk food. Tomorrow begins a new adventure in learning (microbiology) and getting fit (pilates and yoga.)
Work with toys.
It would be tediously boring to watch two thirty somethings play with Transformers so I'll spare you that part. FYI, these are Jeff's toys but I was able to turn Optimus into a robot ten minutes faster than he was, HAW!
The only time you'll see Nemesis Prime and Optimus Prime on the same side.  To fight Pugzilla!

As Pugzilla kicked Nemesis across the kitchen Prime made his attack!

Yet it doesn't look like any damage was done. I would call this war a draw.  nil-nil.

day 29 Hollywooooood!

Ahhhhh, the last weekend of break and what am I doing? Watching movies on the couch with good friends.  I didn't want to be rude and ignore our company to dive headlong into a project so a simple one for the evening will have to suffice.
Make a disguise for yourself, a pet, a friend, or an object.
It's time for your close up Ms. Gabor.  No, please ma'am, don't slap me!

Day 28 ahhhh mannnn...

I honestly thought it would take longer than four weeks for me to miss a project day.  Yesterday (the ACTUAL 28th day) was filled with all the fun stuff like dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, and dishes.  Then we had friends over for FTC (Finer Things Club) and ended the night stopping by Beach Grrls to visit a few more friends.  Throughout the day I kept thinking about my project but never got around to it.  I can beat myself up for forgetting or I can get it done and move forward.
Use traditional school supplies to make something non-traditional.

I'll be using this stuff in the traditional way Monday when the spring semester starts but until then....
I'll make sushi.

Day 27 dkjka;ldfjka;fka;

I'm still feeling rundown as all hell and spent the majority of my day hiding in The Cave (aka our bedroom).  I wasn't really up to doing a project but didn't want to miss a day so I half assed something.
"Use a recent dream as inspiration."
Last night this song was the soundtrack to whatever madness was going on in my subconscious.
Gold teeth and a curse for this town were all in my mouth.
Only, i don't know how they got out, dear.
Turn me back into the pet that i was when we met.
I was happier then with no mind-set.

And if you'd 'a took to me like
A gull takes to the wind.
Well, i'd 'a jumped from my tree
And i'd a danced like the king of the eyesores
And the rest of our lives would 'a fared well.

New slang when you notice the stripes, the dirt in your fries.
Hope it's right when you die, old and bony.
Dawn breaks like a bull through the hall,
Never should have called
But my head's to the wall and i'm lonely.

And if you'd 'a took to me like
A gull takes to the wind.
Well, i'd 'a jumped from my tree
And i'd a danced like the kind of the eyesores
And the rest of our lives would 'a fared well.

God speed all the bakers at dawn may they all cut their thumbs,
And bleed into their buns 'till they melt away.

I'm looking in on the good life i might be doomed never to find.
Without a trust or flaming fields am i too dumb to refine?
And if you'd 'a took to me like
Well i'd a danced like the queen of the eyesores
And the rest of our lives would 'a fared well.

The only part of my dream I remembered (besides the song) was that I was eating sushi.  So in the spirit of Idle Hands and not wanting to disappoint I went and had sushi for dinner at Joe's.  Yeah, yeah, I stole this image off Google, but whadaya want from a sick grrl?

Day 26 who needs an mp3 player...

Now most of us have some form of digital music player that we carry with us at all times.  An Ipod, a Zune, shoot, even phones can hold a ton of music these days.  Yet, there is something so special about listening to tunes on vinyl.  The popping and richness of a record can't be compared to any other form of recorded music.
"Make something portable that normally isn't."

A portable turntable! Complete with over sized headphones. :)
If only I could listen to the Buzzcocks on vinyl while I'm on the go....

Day 25 A Daisy Chain For Satan

or A Clover Bracelet For Season as the case may be.
I'm still sick.  It wasn't just the Vegas blahs. Boooooo!
"Work with nature. Go to your yard or a nearby park and collect materials to work with."
Clovers are a lot harder to work with than daises. The stems are so delicate!  That is why I only made a bracelet instead of a necklace.

Day 24 verde!

It was all about using green today.  Appropriate seeing as that I'm a bit green in the gills still from Las Vegas.
A green tree on a green wine bottle.  Alcohol, ugh...

Day 23 ughhhhh.....

Juuuuuuuust got home from Vegas.  Partied like a rockstar (bottle service, limos, crab legs....) and am waaaaaaaay too exhausted to dive into a project.  Today is all about using something from a recycling bin.
Creativity on the fly in a car. An ASHTRAY!!!!!!

My Sisterwife Ruby and I lookin fly like a G6 standing on a bridge in the Conservatory at the Bellagio.

Day 21 Vegas!!!!!

Woohooo! In Vegas with all of the homies. Short but sweet. Write a ten word love story.
"They both loved Morrissey. Eventually they loved each other too."

Day 20 ummmm... welllll...

Today was make something out of clay day.  I used Noah's recipe from "the Book" and my boyfriend Danny and I went to town.  We had a blast but this is the only picture that is appropriate to put in a blog.  Guess what else we made? hahahahaha
A ball pyramid!
This may seem like a lame post, but the journey was fun.
Today we are off to Las Vegas!!!  Planning on keeping up on the blogging via mobile.

Day 19 ribbbittt!

"Create something that floats on water."
I first read this as create something that floats and a friend had a greaaat suggestion.  I ran to Rite Aid to get supplies.  When I got home I reread what I was supposed to do and had to change it up a bit.
An origami frog.  Kinda lame.

A root beer float! Way cool!

Day 18 he loves me, he loves me not....

I've been diligently doing as instructed every day as per "the Book."  Today I was to gather things from my car to make something.  Seeing as that I personally don't own a vehicle I rummaged through my roommates.  Jebus! Can you say PIGSTY?!?!?!
Inspired by Maya over at http://yearofthepetal.blogspot.com I decided to make a flower out of some tissue paper I found from a Xmas present he had yet to bring in.  I'll probably recycle all of the Vitamin Water bottles I found to properly fund a third world nation for a year. :P Hey Jeff, CLEAN YOUR CAR!
Roses are red
violets are blue
trash into treasure
hey, it's what I do.

Day 17 yarrrr matey!

I wasn't feeling too well today so I did a whole lot of nothing.  I still got my project done and baked some muffins from scratch wheeeeeee.
"Make something inspired by and/or that goes over an eye (yours or someone else's.)"
Awww Doyle, he's always such a good sport. DOGGY EYE PATCH!

Instant close up!!!!

A picture of my banana nut muffins for good measure.

Day 16 poooootaaaatooooo!!!!

AHHHH! A great day!  Went to Disneyland with Danny, Joshie, Dylann, Geoff, and Nicole.  Ate too much which caused an incident of searing pain in my guts.  It was terrible! I couldn't even walk upright. Thankfully it subsided in about half an hour. Hot tea really cures everything/anything. Got to go on tons of rides and even shook my groove thang at elecTRONica.
A monster hand that wanted to say HI!!  Ok, it totally does not look like a hand.  Cut me some slack, I was at ....

the Happiest Place on Earth all day.
I completely spaced on my project before we left so it's a bit janky tonight. "The Book" said to use a sponge or potato to make a stamp.

Day 15

"What can you do with just a dollar? Use a dollar bill as your medium or inspiration today."
An origami dollar t-shirt!
He's so money he doesn't even know how much money he has.

Day 14

Went and had Greek food with Baby Grrl and plan to go to a friends for a party tonight, we'll see.
Today I was supposed to work as small as possible.  Seeing as that I don't have a magnifying glass or microscope I had to work small enough for the naked eye to see.  And for those of you that know me, my vision is shit!
dun, dun, DAH!!!! A hand stencil smaller than a dime.

Thursday, January 13, 2011

Day 13

Today is all about tea.  Use liquid, tea bags, loose, whatevs to create something.  I had big plans to make something really cool.  I spent most of the day runnin around with Killah Bea (shopping, eating hot dogs) and now my stomach is WRECKED! Instead of some magical creation you get THIS....
a loose leaf jasmine hand print.

PS. F you stomach! F you in the A!!!!!

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

Day 12

Sat around for most of the day with my friend Baby Grrl (aka Melissa.)  Did a whole lot of nothing but bullshit and smoke.  I didn't really think about what I was going to make today until I started to make it.
"Camouflage.  Create or alter something so it disappears into its background."
Can you tell what this pile o' junk is hiding?

A necklace! TA-DA!

Day 11

Today as per "the book" I was to use my non-dominant hand (my right) choosing a medium I am comfortable with.  I toyed with the idea of doing my makeup, painting (which I kind of suck at), and a couple of other things.  Instead I thrust my left hand in my pocket for two hours.
Let me tell ya, it wasn't easy.  Texting wasn't so bad but when I tried to fill a bottle of water I dumped it all over the counter. Thankfully I didn't have to go to the bathroom.
I couldn't exactly take pictures of me using my right hand for two hours so I copied a Poe poem.  Can you guess where I switched from my left to my right?
It's weird, my right hand penmanship looks EXACTLY like Jeff's regular writing.  The spider didn't turn out too bad though.

Day 10

Another lazy one for sure and I guarantee once school starts I'll be dreaming of these days.  Lots of bad tv and hanging with my doggy.
"Use only water as your medium/inspiration today."
What the hell can you make with water you say. Change it, duh!
Hi ice hand Thing, nice to meet you.

Maybe Thing can help me with the dishes.

Or slap my roommate.

When all else fails, pick your nose.  It's funny every time.

Day 9

Another night of birthday madness.  Bomb ass Japanese food at Honda Ya with some friends and yet another late night FIFA 11 sesh.  Today is definitely for lazing about and watching netflix.  I see a nap in the next hour or two.
"Make something with your breakfast before you eat it."
A happy face made outta macha before I added the water.

A sriracha face on leftover pizza.

Day 8

Last night was amazing!!!! Went to Buffalo Wild Wings to celebrate Dannys birthday with a ton of friends.  Ended up back at Casa de Frankenstein for an impromptu slumber party so we could all go watch the Arsenal vs Leeds match at the Ship.  Didn't get to bed until after eight this morning but I still was able to get my project for the day done.
"Transform an old book into something new by cutting, folding, gluing, and so on."
Now this was a difficult task for me.  I cherish books more than most things on this planet.  I have over 1000 in my personal library.  I didn't want to ruin one until I stumbled upon a copy of Twilight.
Notice how the bottom corner is chewed up.  Doyle is a smart dog.

I made the book into what it really is, empty space.

Plenty of room to hide a REAL vampire book!

I had to rewrite her bio.

Not wanting to waste the horrid pages I made a bum fire in my backyard.

Now THAT is the only way I can get behind the horrid drivel that is Twilight.

Day 7

Yayyyyyy!!!! I made it an entire week.  Only 51 more to go. :P
"Today, make a stencil and use it in your work."  Now, the only stenciling I have ever attempted were Black Flag bars or the Fear stencil that everyone and their Grandma made in high school (oh Lee Ving, how I used to love you.)  This was pretty fun and I want to try to make more in the future.  Banksy had to start somewhere right?
Here's the stencil.  Don't ask where the Aladdin Bail Bonds folder came from.  Innocent until proven guilty, or so they tell me.

OBEY THE PUG!

Yet again an Idle Hands blog post was inspired by none other than my zombie pug and best friend Doyle.

Day 6

I had fun today running around with Bea (my second Mom.)  Giggling at the pharmacy and making fun of her sons.  I'm gonna have a hard time getting back into the swing of things when the semester starts.  I'll enjoy it while I can!
"Look in the kitchen and work with the first fruit or vegetable you spot. It could be in the form of juice, jam, or even canned."  Canned veg is NOT my deal and I found an apple in the crisper.  Today I give you a shrunken apple head pirate.  Complete with crossed paring knife and vegetable peeler.
He looks like he lost his dentures.  Living on the high seas must be tough on the chompers.

Day 5

Today I had a visit from my cousin and her daughter Mira.  I get that she's my second cousin but i refer to her as my niece.  I wanted to involve her in my project today.  She is forever wanting to play with my dolls so voila!  A war between my Living Dead Dolls and my roommates Blizzard toys.
"What do you collect? Work with a collection of objects you have in your home (or borrow a friend's if you like."
The battlefield.

Lottie wearing Dooms hat about to pounce on some green Orc looking dude.

Doom taking down a Troll (I think.)

Died delivering a death blow to a Remulack (I don't know what these dudes are called!)

Tragedy posing for the camera instead of fighting.  My niece said that Tragedy was the Queen of the Dolls so I assume she won this battle.

Revenant and her Vulture taking out that Starcraft guy.

Misery lost to Deathwing. (Hey! I knew his name!)

Arthus kicked The Losts tail, but as you can see her doll tried to break off his wings.

It took both Captain Bonnie and the Black Dahlia to beat Thrall (I think that's who it is) but they pulled it off.

War chief Mira reporting for duty.

My sweet Mira and I.

There are casualties in every war but it looks like the Living Dead Dolls won this round.
